Brachas with Rimon
Privacy Policy

Brachas with Rimon is a study aid for learning the blessings said over food. It runs as an iPhone app, an Android app and a web app, and this policy covers all three. We collect only what the features below need, and nothing is sold, shared for advertising, or used to track you.
What we collect
- Guest session. The app works without an account. When you finish the intro it creates an anonymous session on our server — a random identifier and friend code, no name, no email, nothing typed — so that meal identification (which runs on our server and has a daily allowance) and your progress sync can work. Guest sessions idle for 45 days are deleted automatically.
- Your account (optional). The social features — friends, leaderboards, board chat — need other people to be able to find you, so they ask for an account. We then store your display name, your email address, and your password only as a scrypt hash (we cannot read it back). If you sign in with Apple or Google instead, we store the identifier that provider issues for you, plus your name and email if the provider shares them. Creating an account upgrades your guest session in place, so nothing earned as a guest is lost.
- Your practice. Points, streaks, per-blessing counts, badges and a per-day history, synced to your session so the friends league works and a new device — iPhone, Android or the web — picks up where you left off.
- Leaderboards and chat. Which boards you belong to and the messages you post in a board's chat. Messages are visible to every member of that board and are kept until the board is deleted or you delete your account. Reports and blocks you file are stored so we can act on them.
- Notifications. In the iPhone app, a device token from Apple Push Notification service; in the Android app, a registration token from Firebase Cloud Messaging — each used only to deliver chat and league notifications, and cleared when you sign out. Mealtime reminders in both apps are scheduled on your device and never leave it. On the web, your chosen reminder times and a push subscription.
- Meal photos. A photo you take or choose is sent to our server and forwarded once to Anthropic's API solely to identify the foods on the plate. We do not store the photo afterward.
What we don't do
- No advertising, no trackers, no analytics SDKs, no sale of data — ever.
- We never show your email to other users; friends and board members see only your display name, your scores, and the chat messages you choose to post.
- We do not use your photos, messages, or progress to train any model.
Deleting your data
Open Account → delete my account permanently (or delete my guest data from the server) inside the app. This immediately and irreversibly removes everything tied to you from our server: your name, email, password hash, sign-in identifiers (a Sign in with Apple sign-in is also revoked with Apple), progress, board memberships, chat messages, reports, blocks, and any push token or subscription. A board you own passes to another member so the group keeps its history. You can also email us (below) and we will delete it for you. Step-by-step instructions: delete-account.html.
Where data lives
Account data is stored on our server hosted by Railway (US); daily backup copies are encrypted and age out within 30 days. Meal photos pass through Anthropic's API under Anthropic's privacy policy and are not used to train models. Android notifications are delivered by Google's Firebase Cloud Messaging and iPhone notifications by Apple's push service; both receive only the device token and the notification text.
To display the app we also load fonts from Google Fonts, and the daily parsha reading comes from Hebcal and Sefaria (the date and Torah reference only). Like any web request, these providers receive your IP address and browser details — never your name, email, or study data.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13 and an account requires being at least 13. If we learn we hold a child's account we delete it. Board chat is only between people who share a board code, never a public room, and every message can be reported or its sender blocked.
